The sizing is more fair than naphtha, so you should choose the size according to the child's height, unless the child is very slim. Then you should choose the size based on the waist circumference rather than the length. A soft elastic band is sewn on the waist, which does not tighten, but keeps the shorts in place.
Wash at 40 degrees, do not tumble dry, iron when damp, shrinks max 4% in the wash.
